What is Reiki.

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a traditional form of Japanese energy healing sometimes refereed to as Reiki healing.

The name “Reiki” pronounced “Rei” + “Ki” = “Reiki”,”Rei” means approximately translates as “God’s Wisdom or the Higher Power” “universal” or “cosmic life force” and “Ki” means life energy.

Reiki can be administered by “laying on hands” and is a non invasive technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing.

Reiki is NOT religious and safe which means it can be used by ANYONE regardless of their own chosen religion.

Reiki is an elegant, natural, reliable and safe form of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use.

It has been effective in helping virtually every known illness and always creates a beneficial effect. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery.

Reiki is an incredibly simple technique to learn, however it is quite unique in that it is transferred to the student “or vessel” during a Reiki class given by a Reiki master.

During the Reiki session the student is “attuned” by the Reiki master.

This Attunement allows the student to connect with an infinite source of divine energy thus improving ones overall health and well-being.

As I mentioned earlier Reiki is NOT a religion, however Mikao Usui the founder of Reiki decide to issue some guidelines to help us stay respectful and sincere in our practice.

It is IMPORTANT to realize that healing the spirit by consciously deciding to work on oneself is a necessary part of the Reiki healing experience.

In order for the Reiki healing to have the most benefit the client must accept a responsibility for his or her own healing and actively participate in it.

This can be as simple as not continuing with people, places or things which are known to be unhealthy for us.

Therefore, the Usui system of Reiki is more than the use of the Reiki energy. It must also include an active commitment of continual improvement.

Here are the 5 Reiki principles which are good to live by and will not cause any conflict regardless of whatever faith you follow.

The 5 reiki principles

Just for today, I will not worry.

Just for today, I will not be angry.

Just for today, I will do my work honestly.

Just for today, I will give thanks for my many blessings.

Just for today, I will be kind to my neighbour and every living thing.
